Magnificent oak

This tree is one of about thirty trees that may be cut down when this lot is developed shortly. The vinyl tape around the trunks is supposed to spare the trees from destruction but I’ve seen developers still cut them down and then just pay the fine levied by the county. Here’s hoping that won’t be the case here. Amelia Island, Florida.

Happy SUNday!

Teac A-4300SX reel-to-reel stereo tape recorder.

My Teac A-4300SX from 1977 is close to being used again after sitting for at least 20 years! I just need to lubricate a couple of rollers and check the drive belt(s) inside. I know that it powers up so that’s a good start. I purchased it while I was stationed in Japan in the late 1970s at the Yokosuka Base Navy Exchange (Building A-33). Every WestPac Sailor knows A-33!

A special kitty

Candy

I have pictures scattered in different places around the house and studio and sometimes I find an image or two that I forgot I had. This was or very sweet kitty, Candy. We found her in the early 1980s as an abandoned kitten barely alive so we took her in. She grew to be a sweetheart of a cat with some of the softest fur and cutest meow. She was blind in one eye although it’s hard to see which one it was in this pic. Here she’s pictured around 1995. Canon F-1 on Kodak color negative film.

Moonrise over the Atlantic Ocean

Moonrise on St. Patrick’s Day along the coast on Amelia Island, Florida.

I’ve been super pleased with my new Canon EOS R mirrorless camera and as I’ve become more familiar with it I’ve ventured out and about more. I can’t say that I was ever a big moon or sunrise photographer before so I don’t think my new camera will change that but the few times I do point my camera at the moon or sun will be a more pleasurable experience. There’s really no post-production in this image except for a bit of a crop. The colors are as captured about 15 minutes after sunset. Tech notes – f11, 1/20, ISO 100 at 108mm.
