grand oak

My grand front yard oak. Most of these coastal oaks don’t grow this tall and straight. The prevailing onshore wind tends to make them lean. This beauty is at least 100 years old (likely much older).
Amelia Island, Florida.

Most people would think that a southern oak like this would be covered in Spanish Moss and look more like a “traditional” live oak. It’s not a live oak, and I’m not 100% sure which oak variety it is. I do know that there isn’t a hint of moss on it – as if it’s not the proper host.

Happy SUNday!

A few images from a 54-year-old Canon lens. I mounted the lens on my modern Canon EOS R mirrorless camera via an adapter.

Young river maple leaves.

Canon FD 55mm f1.2 lens from August 1972.

Good color and contrast.
Excellent shallow depth of field. My backyard NWF habitat.
Rusted.
Affectionately known as a chrome nose lens.

This famous early Canon lens is super fast at f1.2. It’s also not a lens for the faint of heart. It weighs 19 oz (540 grams).

Happy SUNday!

She’s looking for a place to lay her eggs. Why is she in my front yard when the entire backyard is a protected wildlife habitat?
I don’t believe she laid her eggs.

Wet bunny.

A marsh rabbit seeks shelter during a thunderstorm. It’s pretty wet. After the storm passed, she moved on.
