Happy SUNday! – Testing my Olympus

Finally, a somewhat sunny morning to test my new to me Olympus SP-800UZ 14MP digital camera with an impressive 30x zoom. These types of cameras are known as “bridge” cameras and this one was released in early 2010.

Early river maple blossoms. Typically these don’t appear for another week or two. Short telephoto on full Program Mode – f5.7 22mm ISO50 1/200
Medium-long telephoto image shot at f5.6 66mm ISO50 1/200 – Full Program Mode
Find the lizard warming in the sun.
Catching some rays. ISO64 f5.6 1/320 131mm
Super Macro Mode.

I’m very pleased with the images this wonderful compact camera can produce. Digicams with CCD sensors have become popular again as they capture familiar-looking images from another generation of digital camera technology. Another plus is the versatility of these cameras with the ability to shoot super macro all the way to extreme telephoto. I’ll have more images of the camera shortly.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day, Chris

a tree, a very big tree, “my” tree

I’m really just taking care of it for the next owner of my property. Of course, it’s everybody’s tree.

From left to right – river birch (no leaves), live oak (center), river maple, and two bald cypresses. My front yard.

Fujifilm X-T2 with Fujinon XF 18-55mm f2.8-4 R LM OIS zoom lens. Fujicolor Velvia Vivid film simulation.

first pics with my new Fujifilm X-T2

How do I love Fuji’s film simulation modes!

Acros standard.
Velvia Vivid.
Rock solid Acros.

I admit, one of the reasons I moved up to the Fujifilm X-T2 was the better film simulation modes over my X-A10 and the addition of 3 Acros versions. I’m a big fan of the film versions of Acros (going back to Neopan) so being able to do that digitally is something I’ve wanted to do. Now I’ll be able to use some of my vintage lenses on the new Fuji and get a near-film look. Thanks for stopping by, Chris

Yashica’s Yashikor f/2.8 5cm Gem

A wonderful LTM lens from 1959 was likely made for Yashica by Tomioka Optical for use on their new Yashica YE 35mm Leica-inspired rangefinder camera. The YE was also known as the 35 YE and the 35 E type during its short run.

Here the lens is shown mounted to my Nicca 3-S.
It’s a handsome lens and it looks well-suited for this mid-1950s Nicca.
A test image from my Fujifilm X-A10 with Fotodiox adapter. I believe this was taken at f/11.
At f/8 or f/11
This one was taken late in the day in deep shade. The Fujifilm X-A10 was set to Velvia film simulation mode. Nice strong colors and sharp contrast.

If you’re interested in discovering more about this under-the-radar lens and Yashica camera might I suggest you stop by my good friend Paul Sokk’s site at http://www.yashicatlr.com/YE&YF.html#yashicaye
