Another Unlikely Photograph

We felt compelled to submit another image for consideration for this week’s photo challenge – Unlikely

Sometimes the most “unlikely” locations provide the best opportunities for a great photograph.

Silhouettes, shadows, and a bit of mystery.

The light was perfect for only a brief moment – the sun reflected off a car’s windshield in just the right way to illuminate the ceiling of the Outback restaurant we were dining at. I grabbed my phone and was lucky to capture this wonderful image.

You can see why this original view inspired me to take the image in the first place. I could see the final, cropped version in my head (in monotone too).

My favorite image is the top one. I think I have the crop and tone just right. What do you think? Which is your favorite?

WPC: Unlikely

This week’s assignment – Unlikely

It’s “unlikely” that these two people are related but you wouldn’t know it if you listened to the one on the right!

Margaret Hamilton (left) was an acclaimed actress and is best known for her wonderful (and super scary!) portrayal of the Wicked Witch of the West – A heartless person consumed by hate, greed, and self-promotion. Dana Loesch (right) is kinda an actress too and is best known for her mean and wicked comments about the students from MSD High School in Florida. One is a fake witch and the other… well.

We support Ms. Loesch’s right to voice her opinions concerning gun control and gun ownership. We do not agree however with anything she’s EVER said about private ownership of assault weapons as it is tainted by the big bucks she receives from her employer – the NRA. To watch her “perform” is truly scary!

Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport Terminal – under construction

Another update on our new airport terminal here on Amelia Island which is nearing completion and is scheduled for a mid-June opening. Lots of activity going on today with exterior painting, grading of the parking lots and what not.

If you haven’t been following this construction project previously, the building is designed to resemble an F4U Corsair fighter plane from WWII. The “tail, canopy and propeller cowling” will be added soon. Stay tuned.

Springtime in Naka-ku, Yokohama

Originally published in March 2017, here’s another look at our neighborhood in Yokohama. C&C ^.^

Chasing Classic Cameras with Chris

Remembering back to our time living in Japan in the late 1970s. We lived in a small area of southern Yokohama near Sankei-en (gardens). The Naka Ward was home to a large US Navy family housing area and the ever popular Navy Exchange and Commissary. Avenue D, pictured below, was the main highway from Yokohama to the Navy base at Yokosuka. In our part of the housing area, these Sakura (below) had been planted as a joint project with the military families and the local community. After the long and dreary winter we looked forward to the blossoms and warmth that signaled Spring.

24 Yuki Station

Walking, cycling, and driving around Ibaraki

This is one of two walks that start at Yuki Station. I completed both walks on the same day. Walk 25 is based on the business area and shops, this walk is based on the spiritual side of Yuki. I prefer this walk, but as I said in the other post I think you should take a bicycle and wander around the whole area. As Ibaraki is becoming much a more cycle loving area, it would be a great idea for someone to start a cycle rental cafe in this area too.

I definitely think you can do both walks easily, but there are spots on each walk that are not really worth the effort and some definitely are worth a longer perusal.
