Original Canon Canonet – 1961

The original Canon Canonet 35mm rangefinder camera with a Canon 45mm f/1.9 lens. Based on its serial number, this one is likely from 1962 or 1963. It is the Version 3 with ASA to 400. The selenium cell meter has been working for all these years. The shutter sounds accurate on auto, but the aperture blades need service.

The Canonet line was hyper-successful for Canon, selling millions throughout its production.

A sharp P&S from Canon – Autoboy S II

Well-designed and super functional, Canon’s Autoboy S II (Super) Panorama was released in Japan in March 1996 for 62,000 JPY ($540 USD). It features a super sharp Canon 38-135mm power zoom lens (f3.6 – 8.9). 10 elements in 10 groups. 7 shooting modes and AiAF, too.

I found an original sales brochure from Japan to complete my set.
It’s the closest thing to a point-and-shoot SLR-like camera from that period.

It has a nice feel and is not a tiny camera. It fits my hands perfectly. Thanks for stopping by, Chris

Canon PowerShot G2

From 2002, the Canon PowerShot G2. MSRP was $899! That’s a ton of money today and was crazy money back then.
It features a CCD sensor and a fast Canon f2 zoom lens. I can’t wait to take this one for a spin in our bright Florida sunshine (if I don’t melt).

From 2002. It’s big and a bit heavy, but nice.
It’s like a brick with a lens (in a good way).
The LCD does articulate and is bright and clear.
Super sharp and fast Canon f2 zoom lens.

I can hardly wait to go out and about with this sharp Canon from the early days od digital photography.

Happy SUNday! – the joy of using a digicam

Regular readers know I love using (on occasion) simple ‘low’ resolution digicams. It’s fun to remember how special these early digital cameras were and to revisit the images they produced.

My Canon PowerShot A530 is a perfect example of the type of camera we used in the early 2000s. With 5 megapixels and a CCD sensor, it’s quite capable of producing film-like pictures that stand up against today’s high-resolution cousins.

Canon PowerShot A530 has a sharp (and fast) Canon 4x optical zoom lens with excellent macro abilities (as close as 1.97 inches from the lens). The CCD sensor creates film-like images.

A classic from Canon.
It’s been my camera of choice for grabbing quick garden pics over the years.
It fits easily in a pocket, and although the LCD screen is not large by today’s standards, it’s plenty bright enough for composing your shots.

Canon Sure Shot MegaZoom 76 – a Modern Classic

Or, a ‘Plastic Fantastic’! I’ve always enjoyed using these well-built Canon point & shoot 35mm cameras from the early 1990s and this model is no exception. If you’re looking for a solid film shooter then this is it.

Also known as the Canon Autoboy Zoom 76 in Japan and the Prima Zoom 76 in Europe.
A complete set from Canon (and me).

Modern Classic! From 1991 and still Made in Japan, a Canon Sure Shot MegaZoom 76 35mm film camera set. It’s one of my favorite Canon cameras from that time period.
This one is in like-new condition – fully tested and ready for you. It features a super-sharp Canon 38-76mm f3.8 zoom lens (7 elements 7 groups). I’ve even included a new Panasonic battery – just add your favorite film.

Happy SUNday! – fun finds

It’s been a busy and productive week meeting with clients. Lots of photo gear to “play” with and lots of new cameras to go on a photo walk with.

I scored a recently hard-to-find fresh roll of this awesome Kodak film.
Not to be outdone by the ColorPlus I bought a roll of this classic from Kodak (fresh through 2024).
A Mamiyaflex C2 is in good working order. I have the interchangeable lenses for it waiting in the wings and a fresh roll of Kodak Portra 400.
I picked up this gorgeous Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 12.1MP camera. It’s a blast to use and produces stunning images (I haven’t turned on the GPS yet).
If only! I purchased three Mamiya sales brochures that I just had to have (since I don’t actually own the cameras).
Although it’s not made by the original Yashica I had to have this “cheesy” camera anyway!
I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to add this stunning Canon to my collection.
Last but not everything, this like-new Canon Sure Shot 85 Zoom Date 35mm compact point & shoot film camera with a crazy sharp lens.

There’s actually more to show but I’ll leave those for a bit later. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! – Chris

Happy SUNday! – chasing compact P&S digitals.

If you’re a regular reader of my blog you’ll no doubt know that I like these compact (little) point-and-shoot digital cameras. I find them easy to tote as most will slip nicely into a pant or jacket pocket. Before smartphones were a thing with their high-resolution cameras I’d often carry a pocket digital and shoot with it alongside my primary (big) film SLR. I find shooting with two distinct formats fun and challenging. I also like the fact that with these compacts it’s easy to get both extreme low and high angles that would be difficult with a bulky SLR.

Today’s featured camera is this awesome Canon PowerShot A480 10-megapixel ultracompact with a sharp Canon 3.3x zoom lens. It has 10 shooting modes plus 30fps movie capabilities and one of the best parts it takes just two easy-to-find AA batteries. There is a separate button battery for the date/time feature (CR 2016) but heck that only needs replacing once every ten years or so (which I just did).

With the lens retracted the camera is about the size of a deck of playing cards.
In the studio.
Super sharp Canon power zoom 37-122mm (35mm equivalent) lens. Up to 6x digital zoom.
It’s from Canon so you know the design and function are top-notch.
The details.

Just in time for Christmas I’ve added this little gem to my online camera shop at http://www.ccstudio2380.com. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
