A much younger Pirate (8 years ago) hanging out with me in the woods. He’s 15ish now and doesn’t climb trees anymore, doesn’t hear all that well and his eyes are a bit dim, but he’s still the best cat we’ve ever had.

Pirate Mail!
Our wonderful Tomcat, Pirate, enjoys the views (and breezes) he gets whenever he’s guarding our mailbox. Notice which end is facing the street!
He usually moves whenever he hears the mail truck… usually.
He’s a great cat and people often stop to take his picture. He just started doing this when he was about a year or so old – it is his go to place whenever he wants to keep an eye out on the neighborhood.

Forgotten tool from an abandoned project – as seen through a window that I had installed a long time ago on tile carefully set by me. This was once our house – it was completely reconstructed over the 8 years we lived there. Then sold. Subsequent owners and renters left the house in ruins. A visit back saw the house gutted and lost.
Brass numbers hang neglected – a haven for spiders. I shaped that cedar plaque and affixed those numbers.
A sad sight for us. It was once nearly perfect. Time takes its toll.
Our garden shed was once bright and filled with plants and potting supplies. The grass was perfect and lovely boardwalks connected the shed to the main deck and garage. Weeds and wasps now.
But a new owner took on the challenge – just as we did in 1981. We thought it was nothing more than a tear down – but it’s new life for 818. Joy to see!

The number of visits our blog gets from around the world just blows us away! It would be easier to list the countries that haven’t visited yet rather than the ones that have.

We completely enjoyed our time in Japan. A once in a lifetime experience that we still treasure to this day. We lived at 283-D, Area 2, Honmoku, Naka-ku Yokohama from May 1977 to February 1980.
