White-tailed deer (young buck) visiting my backyard NWF wildlife habitat.Making his way through the ferns.
I hadn’t seen a deer in my yard in the thirty-plus years that I’ve lived here. Part of my yard is wetlands with a small creeklet running through it and at times some small ponds form after heavy summer thunderstorms. This deer has been spotted around the neighborhood over the past two months – he has a severe injury to his right rear leg and for the most part, he can’t use it. Having said that, he looked healthy and responded to my presence. He doesn’t appear to be sick. There are coyotes in the area so I’m hoping he can stay ahead of the various predators and rut as this is the time of year for that in my part of Florida.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! – Chris
