Late Bloomer – Christmas cactus blossom for Valentine’s Day

February 9, 2021February 9, 2021Chris and Carol Leave a comment

Normally our Christmas cactus plants bloom by late November or right on time for Christmas. This year most of the blossoms came in mid January with the exception of this beautiful flower.

Photographed in the fading late afternoon sunlight – a slightly cooler temperature image (above). The same blossom in full sun just moments before (below). Much warmer colors.

I like the shadow cast by the flower.

Friday Fotos! – First leaves of… winter?

Eastern redbud with the first signs of life in this (so far) mild winter here in extreme northeast Florida. Still a lot of winter left but hopefully we’ll avoid a hard freeze before spring.

Have a beautiful day and stay safe!

Happy SUNday!

With our planet seemingly under siege from uncontrolled climate changes and the pandemic (not to mention political nonsense) here’s a simple way to take back a small chunk of sanity.

By providing a place within your property for wildlife and native plants and trees to flourish not only do you do something nice for the Earth but also for your mental health and personal well-being.

Visit https://www.nwf.org/garden-for-wildlife/certify to find out how you can help wildlife to thrive instead of just surviving.

Have a beautiful and peaceful day! – Chris

A beautiful bouquet of flowers from our daughter Lindsay for Mother’s Day.

My Fujifilm FinePix S9900W handled the contrasty lighting well. Little or no post-production necessary. Thanks for stopping by! – Chris
