Happy SUNday!

She’s looking for a place to lay her eggs. Why is she in my front yard when the entire backyard is a protected wildlife habitat?
I don’t believe she laid her eggs.

Wet bunny.

A marsh rabbit seeks shelter during a thunderstorm. It’s pretty wet. After the storm passed, she moved on.

Happy Heavenly Mother’s Day

My mom, Mary, was three years old in 1919 when this picture was taken in New York City. She was a proud and pretty Slovakian girl.

The second was during a Christmas vacation out West in 1960. The third was taken on Jensen Beach in late 1976, just before I deployed to Japan to serve aboard the USS Midway (CV-41).

She was an amazing person. I think about her all the time. Happy Heavenly Mother’s Day. I love you!

Happy SUNday! – getting there

I’m in the final stage of re-siding my house. The last part to do is up on the roof, which isn’t the easiest place to work. I added a slate feature wall, awning windows, and a fresh coat of paint. I’m trying to beat the heat of summer.

This spot gets about 10 hours of summer sun, so it’s one of the most unpleasant parts to work on.
There will be a small fountain and some plants installed here.
The peak is about 16 feet up, and I’ll have to work standing on the roof. Ugh!

Happy SUNday!

Baseball season is about to start (Spring Training is underway). I can hardly wait to see my NY Mets win it all this year.

David Wright is my favorite recent Met besides Pete Alonso.

Happy SUNday!

Pick the hottest day in July, and then go to Kamakura.

Carol

The Great Buddha of Kamakura (鎌倉大仏, Kamakura Daibutsu).

The statue was cast in 1252, initially inside a large temple hall. However, typhoons and a tsunami destroyed the temple buildings multiple times in the 14th and 15th centuries. So, since the late 15th century, the Buddha has stood in the open air.

Another interesting view of this great statue.
