This beautiful bald cypress tree stands just outside one of my studio’s windows. The fence separates a natural wetland from the remainder of my property. I planted this tree when it was about 4 feet tall in 1992. Thirty years later it stands at about 40 feet.

The sign in the background identifies the area as an NWS Certified Backyard Habitat.

Actually not forgotten just covered up by maidenhair ferns. I built this bench about 25 years ago when the gardens were still ‘new’.

A quiet spot to reflect and rest.

It’s made from treated 4 x 6 lumber.
This is what’s on the other side of the black metal fence. A natural bog and at times small creeklet.

Magnificent oak

This tree is one of about thirty trees that may be cut down when this lot is developed shortly. The vinyl tape around the trunks is supposed to spare the trees from destruction but I’ve seen developers still cut them down and then just pay the fine levied by the county. Here’s hoping that won’t be the case here. Amelia Island, Florida.
