Friday Fotos!

I needed to take some test shots with my new to me Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi so I did a little walkabout in my front yard. Nothing more than snapshots but my goal was to test the autofocus and various modes on the camera. The Rebel XTi is a 10.1-megapixel from around 2008. I purchased it from the original owner who lives locally and knows I collect cameras.

A bit underexposed but my goal was to test the macro mode and close autofocus.
A nice clean and well-maintained Canon kit. The lens and camera work well together and it’s quick to lock on to the proper focus without a bunch of hunting around.
River birch and its beautiful bark.
At least the AF locked on to the central subject (I think this is a butterfly bush).
Yep, that sign! My go-to focus test shot. That sign was erected in front of my home about 27 years ago when my daughter was small and she and her friends would make the driveway their playground.
I like rocks. The big one on the right came from a stream in Otto, North Carolina.
Ground-level transformer right along my property line.
Veteran’s Day and my across-the-street neighbor put out his flag.
2014 Toyota RAV4 with just under 50K miles on it. It needs to be washed (and that driveway needs to be replaced).
Canon made an easy-to-use compact DSLR and put together a nice combo along the way.
I even have a box for it!

Thanks for stopping by and have an awesome day and weekend! – Chris

You never know.

Collecting is a powerful motivator. When I first listed this wonderful collection of boxes for the Canon AE-1 Program I thought it would be a perfect fit for someone looking to round out their Canon collection. I know I try very hard to collect classic cameras with their original boxes as I like the look of a camera with its box. Silly I know but fun!

Whenever I buy large collections locally I’m always looking for orphaned boxes – boxes that their cameras are long ago sold or in some cases, stolen. I picked up this super clean box set and listed it in my online camera shop at http://www.ccstudio2380.com with the hope that it would find a new home. It did and what surprised me the most is that it was sold to a collector in France. Postage and VAT were incredible (nearly $75) on top of the sale price I had it listed for. Powerful motivation. But I’ve done the same purchasing nice boxes from Japan to add to my collection. Actually, when you think about it I’m just a worldwide recycler! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! – Chris

Just Arrived!

Hello all! These really neat items have just been added in my online camera shop at http://www.ccstudio2380.com

The green and tan Canon camera bag is a classic in design and function. Mine is still new in mint unused condition and has been in my Canon collection since new. As I continue to downsize my collections of stuff I’m making it available in my shop just in time for Christmas gift giving. I’ve also listed a few of my Disney collectible camera straps in a variety of styles and colors. All of these straps are also in mint unused condition. The purple and black Walt Disney World camera bag is from the late 1990s and it’s never been used. It’s actually got a tag that states it is a camcorder bag!

There are lots of eclectic things from my collections listed in my shop so if you’re interested pop on over to http://www.ccstudio2380.com and take a look. Have a great day!

Happy SUNday! – Camera straps, Disney, and Olympics!

Happy Sunday to all… I’ve got a few camera straps for sale in my Etsy Camera Shop at http://www.ccstudio2380.com

If you’re a fan of Disney then I’ve got you covered!

How’s this for a in your face Minnie Mouse camera strap? It’s actually one of the hardest Disney straps to get here in the US as it was only available for a short time in Japan. It’s brand new (unused) in its original retail package from the Disney Store, Japan.
Lots of different Mickey’s!
This one I don’t have the original package but it’s still unused and in mint new condition.
Rare “plain” classic Canon camera strap. These straps are always in high demand by collectors but few have survived totally unused and still new like this one.
Includes the HTF leather strap protectors (body savers).
A genuine Canon fanny pack from the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. This one is still new, never used! Holds a large SLR or DSLR and at least two lenses.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Sunday!

Chasing the Canon Model 7

Being a fan of most of Canon’s cameras and lenses it was only a matter of time before I started chasing after the Model 7. Although this model was released while the world was catching the SLR craze, it stood out as one of the best rangefinders Canon had produced up to that point. It also served notice to Nikon and Leica that Canon was a serious competitor capable of building outstanding cameras and lenses. Here’s my Canon 7.

Lots to like about this Canon.
Super bright and accurate view-rangefinder (Leica M challenger).
Dual range selenium cell light meter that’s still very much active and hopefully still accurate.

I haven’t decided on a lens for it yet but I’m looking for a nice 50mm f1.4 lens that would have a serial number in the range of this body. From what I can tell, this camera left the factory with a lens in the range of 114000 to 116000. The chase is on!

I’ll post additional updates on this camera as I get the original box and case “in the studio” for some glamour shots. I’m also chasing after the appropriate instruction booklet for it in either English or Japanese (or both), a brochure, and of course, the proper lens. For now, my trusty Nikkor fits nicely.

A Nikkor lens on a Canon!

Chasing Classic Sales Brochures

In addition to chasing after classic cameras I enjoy chasing down vintage sales brochures as they can be a great source of detailed information direct from the manufacturer. Often times it’s the only avenue for discovering which accessory goes with which camera. Here’s a great Canon brochure from Japan dated 05/1980 (PUB. CJ01 – 022).

Actually Canon refers to this as a catalog.

Although I have this same information in other brochures and catalogs they’re scattered around in different albums so it’s nice to have them all here in one place. Since this catalog was released in May of 1980, some early and discontinued accessories are not shown. Also missing from this publication is the Canon AE1-Program and the AT-1 and it predates the release of the T Series (T50, T70). I’ll scan and post some additional pages over the next few days. Stay tuned!
