Our cactus has been very prolific this year and I was able to capture this lovely blossom at just the right time.

Late Bloomer – Christmas cactus blossom for Valentine’s Day

Normally our Christmas cactus plants bloom by late November or right on time for Christmas. This year most of the blossoms came in mid January with the exception of this beautiful flower.

Photographed in the fading late afternoon sunlight – a slightly cooler temperature image (above). The same blossom in full sun just moments before (below). Much warmer colors.

I like the shadow cast by the flower.

One of our favorite blossoms – each flower is different from the next and differs from day to day. This beautiful cactus is in our indoor window garden and right on a cue, it’s putting on a show for Christmas.
