Happy SUNday! – Kitchen Reno

Almost finished. Just a few more details and our kitchen renovation will be completed. Yeah us!

We installed the Cafe induction range, Ikea cabinets, stainless steel tile, marble slab backsplash, and Hauslane vent hood.
Marble slab tiles and a hickory butcher block work surface.

I’ll share more pictures of the other side of the kitchen soon. It’s more fun when you do it yourself.

Thanks for stopping by, Chris

Happy SUNday! – kitchen reno stainless steel tiles

Finally! It took me the better part of a week to install these 6 x 6-inch stainless steel tiles as a backsplash behind the range. I’m very happy with the results.

Looking better.
By alternating each tile the light is reflected in an interesting pattern depending on where you’re standing.
The range has an induction cooktop. By Cafe.

The next part of the project is to finish installing the marble tiles on the remainder of the backsplash. Thanks for stopping by! – Chris

Happy SUNday! – new stainless steel tiles

Another big step in our kitchen reno today as I’m finally able to install the 6 x 6-inch stainless steel tiles under the vent hood. I painted the wall with Sherwin-Williams Tricorn Black (6258) since I won’t be using grout to fill any gaps and seams between the tiles I wanted to “hide” the background wall. I’ll be sure to post new pics once the tiles are all in place (I’ll see if my no-grout decision was the right one).

The tiles are from http://www.stainlesssteeltile.com
The countertop on the left is Silestone quartz and on the right is a hickory butcher block countertop.

The walls on either side of the tiles will be covered with large marble slabs (12 x 24-inch) again with no grout between the joints. I’ll be sure to post updates soon. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day! – Chris

Happy SUNday! – kitchen reno

Getting closer.

The upper kitchen cabinets have been removed from over the bar, now it’s time to get rid of the soffit structure.
I’m standing on the bar countertop tackling the last part of the structure that extends up through the ceiling into the inaccessible attic. It turns out it was nailed into the existing roof trusses and didn’t go without a fight. By the way, I’m the one who built the bar so I know it was capable of holding a rather large me.
Almost gone! See the next picture to check out the new hole.
At the moment I’m leaving it open to be able to run new wiring.
Another ugly wall that will get repaired. I’m leaving it open at the moment because I need to run wiring for ceiling-mounted recessed LED lights. The white pipe is the drain vent that extends up through the roof. The unpainted beadboard was covered by the upper cabinets.

We started our kitchen reno in March 2021. Our home was built and we purchased it new in 1991 so it seemed like a good time to update the look of the kitchen and upgrade the appliances. Tomorrow I get my cabinet doors and drawers back from the paint shop. I’ll be sure to post a few pics after they get installed. Thanks for stopping by! – Chris
