Kodak Kodachrome 25 – early 1970s classic film

I can’t even begin to guess how many rolls of this I shot in the 1970s.
You had better have lots of bright sunlight and a fast lens to shoot this back in the day!

One of my many unused rolls of film that I have on display in my camera collection. How many remember shooting this stuff? Thanks for stopping by, Chris http://www.ccstudio2380.com

Happy SUNday! Isle of Wight – 1987

Scanning some Kodak Kodachrome slides from my trip to England in September of 1987. It’s hard to believe that it’s been thirty years since I was there.

This lovely home was photographed around mid afternoon under tricky lighting conditions. Kodachrome 25 isn’t at its’ best in less than full sun but I believe the colors are appropriately warm given the circumstances. Little post production of the image apart for some minor cropping to remove the edges of the slide mount and to tone down the highlights to bring out more details in the wall in the bright sunlight. Taken with my Canon F-1 using my favorite Canon wide angle lens (FD 24mm f/ 2.8).

Iconic symbol of England. I think the red has held up well on the slide after all these years. Only minor tweaks were needed in post production (removing the slide mount edges via a small crop). Kodak Kodachrome 25 taken with my Canon F-1 fitted with my Canon FD 24mm f/ 2.8 lens. Looking back on this image after all these years I can’t recall why I didn’t capture the entire booth on the right. I just remember that I liked that the two leaned together at the top.

I use a Canon CanoScan 9000F Mark II for my scanning.

New Yashica Pentamatic Set – all the goodies too!

We’re always on the lookout for interesting Pentamatic sets. This was purchased from the original owner who purchased it in March of 1961 in Philadelphia. It’s the first Pentamatic set that had the “dealer price card” included.

It’s a beautiful camera in nearly mint condition – hardly any signs of use and of course it works perfectly. This particular camera was made in August 1960 and the lens is from around the same time.

DSCF6354

The interesting negative holder from Kodak (upper right) is from the first roll of film that the original owner shot (high contrast B&W copy film). I’m not sure of the exact period the Kodachrome film is from but I do know that I’ve shot more than my share of Kodachrome in my life.

The dealer price card was designed to slip into the cold shoe of the camera (by folding the little tab on it and inserting it in the shoe).

Carol and I are always looking for nice examples of all models of the Pentamatic (Pentamatic, Pentamatic II and Pentamatic S) so if you have a nice one to sell please feel free to contact us through our blog or at chriscarol@ccstudio2380.com

Be sure to stop by our online store at https://www.ccstudio2380.com

Shop Dog

Shop dog keeping a watchful eye on me as I pass through his territory.

Honmoku, Naka-ku, Yokohama late 1970s. One of my favorite images from that time period as the various shop dogs and cats were not easy to get pictures of. The late day sun helped to add depth to the composition.
