Happy SUNday! – My Leica gets a new case

My Leica IIIg from 1956 gets a new leather half-case from TP Original http://www.tporiginal.com

I like the contrast between the rich color of the leather (Volcano) and the gray and silver metal of the Leica’s body.

I plan on replacing the black leatherette that covered the body when it came from the factory at some point as I have the replacement panels.

The camera has been fully serviced by Mr. Yoxin Ye so it’s good to go as it’s been calibrated, cleaned, lubed, and adjusted.

What do you think? Do you like the naked look of my camera?

Here it is presented without its leatherette coverings and with the Leicavit rapid winder attached.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! – Chris

My unfinished Leica IIIg project

It’s been fully serviced and brought back to the factory specifications. The old leatherette covering has been removed and the new leather has been delivered. So why haven’t I finished with the restoration? The simple and short answer is I have no idea. This image was taken in the Summer of 2020 and the camera hasn’t been touched since – it’s not on display either. I guess it’s time to finish this project, load some film, and enjoy it. I can’t believe how quickly time is slipping by.

In color.

It looks so industrial without the leatherette. Thanks for stopping by! – Chris

Is this for your Leica?

How’s that for click bait? Seriously, I have something that just may go with your 1955 Leica M3.

Yep, an inspection tag for a 1955 Leica M3.

If you’re interested and would like to add this to your Leica collection I’ve listed it in my Etsy Camera Shop at http://www.ccstudio2380.com

I Like Leica (stuff)!

More Leica-Leitz stuff. This well-preserved brochure is from March 1949.

The finder was useful from 35mm to 135mm – a must once you started using lenses above 50mm.

IMG_20200827_0003

The Leica catalog code is ‘VIOOH’ and the catalog number is 66,006a.

IMG_20200827_0004

The finder was quite expensive for 1949 at $77 plus tax. I believe this brochure is dated 3/49 if I interpret the code correctly.

DSCF0479

A somewhat similar viewfinder from Japan ca. 1952 from an unknown maker. This one is dedicated to using 13.5cm lenses.
