Rare Yashica dealer display ‘Yashica Sailor Boy’ 20cm size with green shoes. Made in 1962 by Modern Plastics Co, Japan. He’s in collector condition and he’s available in my camera shop at http://www.ccstudio2380.com

Also known as the Canon Autoboy Zoom 76 in Japan and the Prima Zoom 76 in Europe.

Modern Classic! From 1991 and still Made in Japan, a Canon Sure Shot MegaZoom 76 35mm film camera set. It’s one of my favorite Canon cameras from that time period.

Canon A-1 ‘Olympic’ Camera

Canon never made the A-1 into an official camera for the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles but like the Canon New F-1 in 1984 complete with a limited edition logo. They did however have an Olympics Box (and lens caps). Here is my still new and never-used A-1 from 1983 in its special box.

This gorgeous A-1 was made in September 1983 – just in time for the upcoming Olympics in LA.

One of Canon’s most advanced electronic cameras of the late 1970s into the mid-1980s.

Compact 35mm SLR with a host of features including full manual.

Nothing nicer than an all-black SLR in new condition.

Starting with the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal Canon has been the “Official Camera”.

eBay – Out of Control!

I hadn’t looked at my selling fees on eBay in quite a while and with the recent sale of a classic Tomioka lens, I was shocked when I looked into the details of the sale. They charged 13.25% on the total amount collected which included shipping and taxes.

Yashica-Tomioka Auto Yashinon 55mm f/1.2 M42 mount lens.

The lens sold for $689.00. Shipping was $19.00 and sales tax was $70.62. My actual shipping was about $25.00. Instead of charging the 13.25% seller’s fee on just the $689.00, they charged 13.25% on the total of $778.62 which took $103.17 from my potential profit. In my opinion, this is outrageous since I don’t make a profit on shipping and certainly no profit on taxes. This is the last time I’ll sell something like this on eBay and will concentrate my selling on my Etsy site (www.ccstudio2380.com) and on Mercari. Goodbye eBay!

I originally purchased the lens many years ago for $600.00 with $50.00 shipping from Japan. As you can see, eBay’s fees for reselling it resulted in a slight loss. I did get to enjoy the lens for all of those years so at least it hadn’t resulted in a greater loss in value.

Nikon F3 HP

This one was made in July 1983 according to the date code stamped internally.

Asahi Pentax MZ-L

I’ve added this beautiful Pentax MZ-L 35mm SLR to my camera shop. It’s complete with a sharp (Asahi) SMC Pentax-FA f3.5-5.6 28-90mm zoom lens. It’s basically NOS as it’s been in my collection since new. Pop on over to www.ccstudio2380.com for a look. This is the last Asahi-Pentax camera in my collection. Time to pass it along to the next photographer.

It’s the little things that count.

When collecting vintage and classic film cameras sometimes it’s the little things that add the most to a collection. Chasing down those little extras that the camera manufacturers packaged along with their cameras and lenses.

At first glance, these two items look similar from the front.

The Yashica ‘Sailor Boy’ logo first appeared in 1962. These cloths were available in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Viewed from behind it’s clear that these cloths were made by the same third-party manufacturer. It’s nice to see that Yashica was in the same league with Nikon for a while at least.

I haven’t seen cloths like these with another manufacturer’s logo (yet). Have any of you? Thanks for stopping by, Chris

3 little Yashicas from the 1960s

Yashica Minimatic-S. A fully automatic (no autofocus) 35mm rangefinder was released in February 1963. The camera set both the aperture and shutter speed.

Yashica M. Released in June 1960. 35mm rangefinder with a sharp and fast Yashinon f1.9 lens. The “M” was also known as the 35M and 35 Model M.

Yashica Half 17. Capable of shooting up to 72 images on a roll of 36-exposure 35mm film.

Each camera uses selenium cell light meters to assist with setting the proper exposure. If you can find working examples of these classics you’ll enjoy a whole new level of vintage film shooting as the Yashinon lenses are sharp, colorful, and contrasty. Thanks for stopping by, Chris
