In some circles, it was the best 35mm SLR for the money, and you were buying into a well-established SLR system with excellent Rokkor lenses. Maybe not as well thought of as the Nikon F and the Canon F-1, but certainly much more affordable. Here is a beautiful example of this model I recently purchased from its original owner – complete with the factory boxes, too!

Gorgeous 1970s tech.
It looks and operates like new!
Mint condition Rokkor lens, metal screw-in Vivitar hood, and a 55mm Hoya Skylight (1A) filter.

An excellent working exposure meter to go with the all-mechanical shutter. Classic.

I know that the camera brand Minolta conjures up many different images depending on which decade you experienced your first encounter with this popular brand. My good friend and fellow Yashica collector (sorry, we’re researchers) Paul Sokk from Australia has written one of the most comprehensive articles you’ll ever read about the early days of Minolta. Vintage Minolta SR-T MC 35mm SLR Film Camera

Super nice and exceptionally clean, this hard to find Minolta in pro-black is available now to add to your collection. These cameras were made exclusively for sale in the United States at J.C. Penny and K-Mart department stores from around 1973-1975. This SLR will come with its original matching MC Rokkor-PF f/1.7 55mm lens and original metal Minolta lens cap. The lens is clean, clear, and crisp and the focus is spot on. The shutter works properly at all speeds (it's a mechanical shutter) and it sounds "classic". The only thing is the built-in TTL meter does not register consistently so you'll have to use a handheld meter or your phone meter app (simple to use; I use mine all the time).
