The Nassau County (Florida) Courthouse, our own clock tower.

The Nassau County Courthouse, also known as the Old Nassau County Courthouse and the Historic Nassau County Courthouse, is a historic two-story red brick courthouse located at 416 Centre Street in Fernandina Beach, Nassau County, Florida. Designed in the Classical Revival style, it was built in 1891 and features cast-iron Corinthian columns, a massive bell tower, and a steeple. Meneely and Co. of West Troy, New York, cast the bell for the tower, which was used as a fire alarm for many years.

Amelia Island’s Clock Tower

It’s not always right but it’s fun to photograph.

I guess DST threw the clock off a bit.

Pictures at an Exhibition – Nassau County Courthouse

20181018_153237

It’s one of my most photographed spots in our historic district – the Nassau County Courthouse. I’ve been honored to have my award-winning photograph hang “forever” inside the courthouse along with about fifty others as part of an exhibition of images and paintings of our beloved landmark. Each image was personally selected by the Honorable Judge Robert M. Foster, Chief Judge of the Fourth Circuit Court here in Nassau County (Florida).

A must see on any trip to Amelia Island, Florida. The Historic District is one of America’s best!

The Nassau County Courthouse is still in operation today – many rooms have been put back to their original condition (1891 to 1920s).

Canon FD 24mm f/2.8 Lens –

15510004.3

I hadn’t used my Canon A-1 in quite some time – months if not a year or more in fact. I had two rolls to send off for processing but needed to shoot the last few exposures. I threw on my favorite lens – my Canon FD 24mm f/2.8 S.S.C. from 1978 – Fujicolor Superia 400.

I enjoy using this 24mm lens over the 20mm and the 17mm. It could be that I’m just so used to it that the other lenses haven’t had a chance to grow on me. Great perspective, relatively fast and good depth of field. Easy to focus too (and forgiving).
