Fujifilm Endeavor 310ix Zoom – Compact APS Film Camera

Another “Modern Classic” and “Plastic Fantastic” from the late 1990s. These sophisticated cameras became the mainstay of the industry before the onslaught of the first wave of useful low-end digital cameras.

Fujifilm 310ix Zoom

Part of Fuji Photo’s popular Endeavor series of APS cameras. The 310ix is equipped with a Super-EBC Fujinon 24-70mm power zoom lens and a host of other advanced features typically only found in the APS format.

This wonderful camera is in its original straight from the factory condition – never used and fully working.

Some of the accessories that are included in this kit are a Fujifilm branded camera cloth in its bright “Fujifilm green”, a remote control that could be attached to the neck strap and used to fire the shutter, nylon neck strap, complete instruction booklet and a roll of Fujicolor 200 APS film (expired 2000).

DSCF6852

The camera takes (1) CR123A battery which also provides power to the date/time and title functions. Here you can see part of the keypad used to set the printing functions.

IMG_20180102_0002

One of the functions of this camera is the ability to change film mid-roll and to switch to panorama mode. It has a solid feel to it with some heft and the build quality seems strong. APS films are no longer made but there are plenty of expired rolls available online through auction sites and the traditional online “monster from the jungle”.

You can purchase this wonderful camera at our online store at https://www.ccstudio2380.com

Yashica Ad – December 1957

A long time ago in a galaxy far… wait, the wrong theme!

ad yashica lm

Awesome ad from exactly 60 years ago! Did men really dress like this?

Typical advertisement from Yashica in the late 1950s. They were high-quality cameras at affordable prices (still are).

Thanks for stopping by!

Great-Aunts, Vermont 1930s

Carol’s great-aunts on her mother’s side in a found photograph from the 1930s (we believe). I like this photograph because it’s rather well taken – not particularly well scanned, but for the time period, it’s a rather good picture.

I don’t know what format the camera was that took this but I enjoy the wider view given by the photographer’s perspective. The ladies are well centered (side to side and top to bottom) and in focus. The wider view allows the viewer a chance to take in the surroundings and appreciate the era in which it was taken.

The only post-processing was to take out the sepia tone and give it its true black and white tones.

Fuji Panorama Cardia – 1991

From the ‘Plastic Fantastic’ period of Fuji Photo Film comes this awesome little 35mm compact camera.

Fuji Panorama Cardia

Lots of good looking plastic.

DSCF6781

Released in Japan in December 1991 for ¥15,800. It features a fixed 28mm Fujinon f/8 lens and a shutter speed of 1/100. Manual winding but with auto exposure and automatic flash.

DSCF6770

The set came with plenty of documentation and a nice padded camera case. We added the roll of Fujicolor for a bit of, you know, color!

We love collecting these “new old stock” cameras from the 1980s, 1990s and the 2000s. They were, for the most part, excellent cameras that provided a bridge from complicated SLR cameras to easier to use compact cameras capable of producing high-quality images. Of course, modern smartphones can do panorama photography so why use a film camera? A look that just looks “different” – so analog with all of its imperfections.

Described as “New, never used. Got as a gift”. Update 1…

I just received this camera from an online purchase –

“New, never used. Got as a gift”. Well OK then. Whatever you say.

DSCF6726

New Olympus camera. That’s what the seller said.

DSCF6722

A science experiment?

DSCF6724

Never used but the Olympus factory always ships their cameras with an exposed roll of Fujifilm.

Per eBay’s definition of “new”… New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item in its original packaging (where packaging is applicable). Packaging should be the same as what is found in a retail store, unless the item is handmade or was packaged by the manufacturer in non-retail packagings, such as an unprinted box or plastic bag.

Let’s see what happens with my claim. eBay has been very good with refunds when items have been grossly misrepresented. No complaints here.

Update 1: I sent the request for a full refund at 3:58 PM and had a full refund by 4:25 PM. Thanks to the seller for accepting responsibility for his error and quickly refunding my original purchase price including shipping.

Remember to always remove batteries when your camera is not in use… especially after a decade or more!

Nikon One Touch Zoom 90s QD – Available for Purchase

Beautiful Nikon point and shoot 35mm compact film camera set – mint new in its original box – never used.

It’s getting harder to find these “plastic fantastic” 35mm film cameras from the late 1990s and early 2000s in new, unused condition. These cameras produce excellent images with a minimum of fussing – they make great street photography cameras as they are small and can easily shoot from the hip.

Accurate autofocus and auto exposure with a 2.4x Nikon zoom lens from 38-90mm at f/4.8 to f/10.5. This one has macro focusing down to 12 inches (30cm). The quartz date (QD) function goes up to 2049! It takes the still easy to find 3v CR2 lithium battery (new, included) and standard 35mm film, both black and white and color with ISO DX coding.

This stunning camera set is available for purchase from our online shop at https://www.ccstudio2380.com – please feel free to check it out.

Mention code “Fanatic” when you order and I’ll take 10% off your entire purchase!!! Get it for a special someone (you) by Christmas!

Our House – Honmoku, Yokohama 1977

As a tie-in to a recent post by our friend Peggy at Camera Go Camera of our old neighborhood (US Navy Area 2 Military Base Housing) in Japan. Here’s a picture of our house at 283-D Area 2 after a rare light snowfall.

Our US Navy base house in Honmoku, Naka-Ku, Yokohama from May 1977 to February 1980. We were the last Navy family to live there as the US Navy was in the process of turning over control of the land to the Japanese Government.

Yashica-Tomioka Pentamatic Lens – Available for Purchase

We’ve decided to make one of our nicest Yashica Pentamatic lenses made by Tomioka Optical available for purchase. This is a special lens from our personal collection. The Super Yashinon-R f/ 2.8 3.5cm wide angle lens is from the earliest production of these hard to find lenses. It is marked Yashica Tominon and a relatively small number were produced in late 1959 and very early 1960.

This lens set is extra special as it includes the original Yashica brown leather case with strap and original metal Yashica front lens cap (52mm). The lens features a super low serial number and a fast f/ 2.8 aperture. The world famous Tomioka made glass is crystal clear and the lens barrel is factory fresh looking. No issues with this beauty – everything works as it should and frankly the lens looks new.

If you’ve been a regular reader here at the ‘Fanatic’ you’ve come to appreciate just how rare high-quality Pentamatic lenses, cameras, and accessories are. We’ve seen prices slowly creeping up on these rarities as more people realize that they’re just aren’t that many lefts in near perfect condition.

Please note: this lens can be used on modern digital camera bodies. There is an adapter to convert the unique Pentamatic bayonet mount to M42. Then use an adapter to mount M42 to your camera. You’ll love the results!

DSCF6631

The lens barrel is flawless – the markings are bright, sharp and clean.

DSCF6636

As you can see, the lens is marked Yashica and Tominon. The first run of these lenses featured the Tomioka Optical ‘Tominon’ name. Also note the extremely low serial number, 309. The first two digits are ’35’ which is the focal length. The next four digits are the production sequence numbers.

DSCF6637

Rear view of the Pentamatic bayonet mount and the six aperture blades.

DSCF6634

The lens barrel still shows a nice factory sheen after all these years. Lens ‘Made in Japan’ at the Tomioka Optical factory in Tokyo.

DSCF6635

Smooth as silk. The aperture stops click in and out nicely, the focus is smooth and the lens is simply gorgeous.

DSCF6640

The original brown leather case is in exceptional condition.

DSCF6641

The stitching is still tight and complete.

DSCF6642

The straps are complete and the interior is clean and bright.

DSCF6647

The lens mounts securely to a Pentamatic body and looks sharp! Sorry, but the camera body is not included in this opportunity.

So there you have it. A historic lens for Yashica’s first SLR camera made by world famous Tomioka Optical in nearly new condition. Perfect for everyday shooting or for your collection.

If you would like to purchase this lens, please pop on over to our online store at https://www.ccstudio2380.com

We have it at a great value now but if you purchase it through our blog I’ll offer a 10% discount! Perfect for Christmas!

Thanks… Chris & Carol ^.^
