Fuji Panorama Cardia – 1991

From the ‘Plastic Fantastic’ period of Fuji Photo Film comes this awesome little 35mm compact camera.

Fuji Panorama Cardia

Lots of good looking plastic.

DSCF6781

Released in Japan in December 1991 for ¥15,800. It features a fixed 28mm Fujinon f/8 lens and a shutter speed of 1/100. Manual winding but with auto exposure and automatic flash.

DSCF6770

The set came with plenty of documentation and a nice padded camera case. We added the roll of Fujicolor for a bit of, you know, color!

We love collecting these “new old stock” cameras from the 1980s, 1990s and the 2000s. They were, for the most part, excellent cameras that provided a bridge from complicated SLR cameras to easier to use compact cameras capable of producing high-quality images. Of course, modern smartphones can do panorama photography so why use a film camera? A look that just looks “different” – so analog with all of its imperfections.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Favorite 2017

In response to this week’s challenge, the last one of 2017.

It was extremely hard for us to choose just one favorite for the year. This one wins out just because it wasn’t planned and everything just had to fall into place with minutes to spare.

A very Merry Christmas to all… and a wish for a peaceful 2018. Our “leaders” in America need to take a chill pill and back off on the war talk. As a retired career U.S. Navy Sailor, in my opinion, the best use of our military might is for keeping the peace and protecting the country. NOT playing into the hands of fanatical “leaders” around the globe.

MAINTAIN the peace, CONTAIN your enemies and RESTRAIN our President. It’s easy to drop bombs on people, it takes a real leader to negotiate peace and foster accords.

We hope that 2018 can be a year for compromise and accords – not bombs and killings and polarization. As John and Yoko said, “Give peace a chance”.

Holy Moly….trying not to say crap…Holy moly I love this little camera. I saw it in the junk bin and thought, “What is that button on the front? Why does it have a microphone picture?? Well, it’s only $3…pay and find out.” So I did….and the camera worked.

There is a viewfinder on the top of the camera as it is supposed to be used with a dedicated tripod…which was not with this example. It was originally released in 1991 and must have been quite a fun thing at the time. The microphone switch turns the camera’s voice-activated shutter on. It has 3 settings depending on how sensitive you want it to be. Of course, it does work in a conventional way, but where is the fun in that. The dedicated tripod activates another feature..the camera moves towards the sound. Without the dedicated tripod, this feature does not work. Apparently, there…

An Interview with Paul Sokk – Site Author of the popular YashicaTLR.com

Another visit with Paul is in order.

Chris and Carol's avatarChasing Classic Cameras with Chris

Chances are you’ve visited Paul’s site and hadn’t known it. Thousands of collectors, online auction sellers and buyers and estate sale pickers gather valuable information about their vintage Yashica cameras from Paul’s well researched and easy to understand site. First appearing in late 2011, Paul describes his website as more of an e-book about Yashica. Paul traces Yashica’s humble beginnings from early 1950s upstart to become the worldwide leader in the manufacture of twin-lens reflex cameras by the end of that decade.

Paul calls the beautiful Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia his home – retiring after 35 years of Government service. He enjoys spending time with his family, photography and writing.

Described as “New, never used. Got as a gift”. Update 1…

I just received this camera from an online purchase –

“New, never used. Got as a gift”. Well OK then. Whatever you say.

DSCF6726

New Olympus camera. That’s what the seller said.

DSCF6722

A science experiment?

DSCF6724

Never used but the Olympus factory always ships their cameras with an exposed roll of Fujifilm.

Per eBay’s definition of “new”… New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item in its original packaging (where packaging is applicable). Packaging should be the same as what is found in a retail store, unless the item is handmade or was packaged by the manufacturer in non-retail packagings, such as an unprinted box or plastic bag.

Let’s see what happens with my claim. eBay has been very good with refunds when items have been grossly misrepresented. No complaints here.

Update 1: I sent the request for a full refund at 3:58 PM and had a full refund by 4:25 PM. Thanks to the seller for accepting responsibility for his error and quickly refunding my original purchase price including shipping.

Remember to always remove batteries when your camera is not in use… especially after a decade or more!

Nikon One Touch Zoom 90s QD – Available for Purchase

Beautiful Nikon point and shoot 35mm compact film camera set – mint new in its original box – never used.

It’s getting harder to find these “plastic fantastic” 35mm film cameras from the late 1990s and early 2000s in new, unused condition. These cameras produce excellent images with a minimum of fussing – they make great street photography cameras as they are small and can easily shoot from the hip.

Accurate autofocus and auto exposure with a 2.4x Nikon zoom lens from 38-90mm at f/4.8 to f/10.5. This one has macro focusing down to 12 inches (30cm). The quartz date (QD) function goes up to 2049! It takes the still easy to find 3v CR2 lithium battery (new, included) and standard 35mm film, both black and white and color with ISO DX coding.

This stunning camera set is available for purchase from our online shop at https://www.ccstudio2380.com – please feel free to check it out.

Mention code “Fanatic” when you order and I’ll take 10% off your entire purchase!!! Get it for a special someone (you) by Christmas!

Beautiful contrails paint the sky after sunset – 12.17.2017

20171217_173342

Multiple levels of contrails and cirrus. Contrails are condensation trails produced by the exhaust from high flying jets. As the trails “age” they spread out and become less distinct and sometimes can form a cloud layer. Some contrails evaporate quickly if the upper-level atmosphere is exceedingly dry.
