At Disney’s Hollywood Studios – it’s the often overlooked details that make the overall experience worthwhile. Disney puts so much effort into making it feel authentic.

At the Zoo – Lion Country Safari, Florida

Lion Country Safari is located in Palm Beach County, Florida. It’s one of the better “drive-thru” safari parks in the US. Here are a few images from a trip back in October 1993.

These next two images were taken at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens (Florida) in 1999 OR at Busch Gardens, Tampa Bay OR at Lion Country Safari – I’m sorry to say that I didn’t record their origin properly.

Grévy’s zebra

The markings on these zebra are amazing – if you look closely it’s actually difficult to distinguish where one animal begins and another ends when they are in a herd.

Here’s a great link to the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens with some interesting info about these zebras.

FRIday Fun – Random Pics

There are so many details, both large and small that add a richness to living in a small town. A short walkabout is a photographer’s dream as all of these images were captured within a few blocks of one another.

Fernandina Beach can be found in the extreme northeast corner of Florida – it’s located on the first barrier island (Amelia Island) along Florida’s east coast just across the border from St. Marys, Georgia.

It’s certainly worth a visit – there’s nowhere else in Florida like it and we’ve got 13 miles of beautiful unspoiled sandy beaches too!

My rock garden takes shape… or how to make my part of the Sunshine State a bit less like Florida

It’s not easy creating a rock garden in Florida and it’s certainly not easy maintaining a rock garden when you basically live in a forest. The rewards, in this case after some late afternoon thundershowers, is my little moment of Zen. ^.^

Nearby the jasmine soaks up the rain – the blossoms are about to show.
