Fun Brochure! Konica Kanpa!

A fun little sales brochure from Japan. The Konica Kanpa! (Kanpai) is a party camera – it was designed to be used on a motorized tripod that would swivel the camera to the sound of someone yelling “Kanpai” (Cheers!) or other sounds and then the camera’s microphone would pick up that sound and the camera would focus in on that person or group and take a picture “hands-free”.

Check out the cute little shoes for the tripod!

Stop by our store – https://www.ccstudio2380.com – lots of new and interesting things!

Rare First Edition Canon F-1 Book – 1971

Rare first edition of the Canon F-1 instruction book. This one was printed in Japan in September 1971. It features a unique cover shot of the F-1 – all other books after this one are different.

DSCF7015

The Canon F-1 featured in this book carries a super early serial number – 100251

DSCF7017

Comparing this book to some of our others there are quite a bit of changes which would be typical of a first edition book.

It’s available for purchase at https://www.ccstudio2380.com

The Last Leaves

It’s been an odd year for our trees weatherwise and otherwise. What with a prolonged spring drought, wildfires into the summer, the close passage of a tropical storm, and then three well established nor’easters, our maritime forest here on the island has taken a quite a beating. Now we have a second hard freeze. These hardy souls are the last leaves in our yard on a bradford pear tree.

It’s technically a bad photograph – I deliberately shot into the sun under breezy conditions so nothing is in focus. I love the shallow depth of field and the sun rays on the left of the image. I’ll check this morning after sunrise to see if the leaves made it through the night.

Do you explore your yard photographically? There’s so much to see. How about a mossy gate on a fence from a different viewpoint?

Technically all of these images are not properly exposed or focused and lack sophisticated techniques in their composition and received no post-production. They’re just shots taken on a whim – but we like them nonetheless.

Thanks for your visit and have a beautiful day!

Holly Berries – Tuesday

Wandering around the front yard yesterday, the stark contrast between the deep red of the berries and the vivid greens of the leaves caught my eye. Shot with my Samsung Galaxy S8+ with only a touch of post-production on my part. What I like best is that the image doesn’t look digital – it has some texture and depth not often seen with the eye etching resolution of DSLRs.

Kodak Brownie 127 Starlet

We enjoy reading her posts – she always introduces us to cameras that we would normally not even consider.

Peggy's avatarCamera Go Camera

This was one of the 3 cameras I bought in Hong Kong. This cute little thing was sitting on a shelf, in a small shop, at the very top of Sim City. I had given up buying a camera while on holiday, they all seemed overpriced. This one was just $20HK, even if it was overpriced, it was still a good price for a holiday treat. Inside the shop, a man was taking apart and Olympus Trip. I watched him a while then I went back to the shelf. I looked at the other cameras and decided to buy two. I will talk about the other one in another post.

This one is a 127mm camera. It is my first 127 camera, but not my first bakelite. I had read how to load 35mm film onto the cassette and really wanted to try that. When I asked to…
