not quite 100

My unofficial thermometer maxed out at 98 this afternoon as the remainder of the island broke the low 100s (is there such a thing as the low 100s?).
Conditions around North Central and NE Florida at 4 this afternoon. Fernandina Beach was 101 with a dew point just below 70 degrees. That produced a heat index of 107 (feels like temperature). No sea breeze this afternoon to cool us down as the prevailing winds were generally westerly off of the hot interior of Florida.

These types of temperatures are not normal for this area especially this close to the Atlantic coast. Typically we’ll max out in the high 80s to low 90s with our ever-present high humidity. A cooling sea breeze will keep it pleasant at the beach and for a few miles inland. Of course, during a normal Summer afternoon, we can expect some pretty strong thunderstorms. Hope the weather by you was pleasant. Thanks for stopping by! – Chris
