Structure 2.0

As a long time film photographer, I’m still blown away by the capabilities of camera phones – a term I use since my phone takes a majority of the images I take on a daily basis. This shot, taken with my Samsung Galaxy S8+ pressed against the glass wall of the terminal building, would have been extremely difficult to capture with my Canon F-1 and film back in the day. In fact, since the phone excels with these complicated exposures I often find that I have little to no post-production to finalize the image. Look at this image closely – it has at least three different types of lighting present and each is rendered correctly. The autofocus on the phone wasn’t fazed by the glass and kept everything in focus with excellent depth-of-field – amazing!

Thanks for stopping by! – Chris

  1. Quite true (though I sort of wish it weren’t!). I have at least ten panoramic or wide format film cameras – some were quite expensive new. . None of them give results that can compare to the panos. from my i Phone
